What is Amazon Q Developer?

Amazon Q Developer provides chat, agentic coding, code suggestions and Java/.NET code transformation in IDEs, the command line and the AWS console. The product is still sold under this name, but AWS documentation says the IDE plugins will be discontinued on April 30, 2027 and recommends moving to Kiro. Kiro is AWS's separate agentic IDE with its own plans.

Developers on AWS need help writing, upgrading and troubleshooting code and cloud resources.
